AI-DS factor looms large for Indian political parties

by admin ()

For those who hate current day Indian politicians and politics, it is still not time to rejoice, at least not for the obvious reasons. We are referring to AI-DS (our acronym for the equally deadly Anti-Incumbency PLUS Delimitated Seats combined impact!) factor that will afflict Indian political parties when go to polls from April 16.

In our last two stories (Crumbling Bastions and Hot Seats), we discussed how different parties will be impacted with Delimitation of constituencies and the anti-incumbency wave that is felt strongly in some seats.
In this concluding part of the series we look at the combined impact of the two key factors. At the same time, one caution: one party’s loss is the other’s party’s gain.
But what we seek to achieve through this feature is to look at the AI-DS factor- how big is the sword of Damocles for each party in holding onto its positions. Seeking greener pastures as a strategy has never been so truly felt as in the current elections.
