Hyderabad, March 5 2010: The major political parties in Andhra Pradesh have jumped into action to present their case before the five-member Srikrishna Committee, which was appointed to study the situation in state regarding its bifurcation, after the panel decided to step up its business.
Both the ruling Congress and the principal Opposition Telugu Desam Party have formed separate committees with MLAs from Telangana in order to prepare and submit reports to the Committee, stressing on the need for grant of a separate statehood for the region.
Senior legislator Nagam Janardhana Reddy will head the TDP Telangana Forum. Party sources revealed that N Chandrababu Naidu, TDP chief, gave his seal of approval for the forum to present its views on the Telangana statehood issue. TDP MLAs from Telangana met Naidu yesterday and discussed their strategy before the Committee to obtain statehood for the region.
