New Delhi, March 9 2010: Today, a group of female BJP activists held a demonstration outside the Parliament to protest the holdup in the passage of Women's Reservation Bill and against leaders opposed to the historic legislation.
Over 20 activists under the auspices of BJP Mahila Morcha came together at the Parliament Gate near Vijay Chowk and blocked traffic for some time. "Police immediately swung into action and detained them. They were taken to Parliament Street police station," a senior police official informed.
The activists were shouting slogans against the government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
Some MPs claimed that they weren't allowed to enter Parliament House.
Responding to the protest, Lalu Prasad, RJD chief and one of the strongest opponents of the Bill, said, "See, they are even blocking MPs from entering Parliament."
